Living In Port Credit

Mississauga’s “Village on the Lake” has a historical significance as it was a popular meeting place for French AND later English AND Mississauga Ojibwe natives in the 1700s. Goods were traded on “credit” at the mouth of what is now the credit river and Lake Ontario which gave way to the neighbourhoods name “Port Credit”.

Port Credit is a destination village for a variety of reasons. There are numerous festivals that take place here throughout the year. There is the Port Credit Harbour Marina where boaters and sailers slip their boats.

There are over 400 retail shops, boutiques, and services, exceptional dining and entertainment venues as well as the famous seafood restaurant Snug Harbour located right in the harbour.

There are numerous things one can spend time doing here. Rainbow trout and salmon fishing in the Credit River, canoeing, dragon boat racing or walking their dog through Jack Darling Memorial park or perhaps taking a stroll along the Lakefront Promenade which has over 6km of trail.

The Lake Front of Port Credit is in transition and undergoing a complete re development. There will be more outdoor lakefront space combined with a lakefront community in the area south of Mississauga Rd and Lakeshore

Real Estate In Port Credit

Most of the neighbourhood consists of detached homes with some luxury townhomes around the lakeshore area. There are also some newer condo buildings, older low rise buildings and some modern high rise condominiums.
