📣 Mayor Olivia Chow has proposed a Land Transfer T 📣 Mayor Olivia Chow has proposed a Land Transfer Tax increase on luxury homes valued at $3 million and up, which, if approved, would take effect April 1, 2026. The new rates would rise progressively with price:

$3 M–$4 M → 4.40% (up 0.9%)

$4 M–$5 M → 5.45% (up 0.95%)

$5 M–$10 M → 6.5% (up 1%)

$10 M–$20 M → 7.55% (up 1.05%)

$20 M+ → 8.6% (up 1.1%)

💡 The takeaway: If you’re planning to buy acting before April 1, 2026 could save you tens of thousands in Land Transfer Tax.
